Eucharist

Sacrament of the Eucharist

The Eucharist is the source and summit of our Catholic faith. In every Mass, we are united with Christ’s sacrifice and nourished by His Body and Blood so that we may live more fully in Him. All Catholics are encouraged to attend Mass every weekend and on holy days of obligation aspart of their ongoing participation in the Eucharist. Mass times at St. Brigid Parish (St. Patrick and Our Lady of Humility campuses) can be found on our [Mass Times page] or by calling the Parish Office at (847) 244-4161.

First Holy Communion (Children)

Children typically receive First Holy Communion in 2nd grade, following a period of preparation through:

  • St. Patrick School
  • Our Religious Education Program (for children not enrolled in the parish school)

Preparation includes both classroom learning and participation in the First Reconciliation before receiving Communion.

  • Adults are invited to participate in the Order of Christian Initiation of Adults (OCIA), a process of formation and preparation for the Sacraments of Initiation.
